May 17': Pause

Helllooooo everyone, and happy May! (yes i'm aware May is half over shh) Welcome to the first of my new monthly mood board posts. In the middle of each month I will be posting my own personal Pinterest-esque collection of photos, a few words and thoughts about what's buzzing around in my brain and possibly even a few of my favorite songs that I can't stop listening to. May has been an odd month. It went from wrapping up my semester at school and the whirlwind that is finals week to moving home and life slowing down. As someone who loves to be busy, going from my college town to my home town took some adjusting, but here's the conclusion I have come to with all this new free time to think. As much as I love how being at school is go, go, go all the time, this time to rest is good, and necessary. It's so easy for us to ignore the importance of rest, slowing down, pausing, if you will. Slowing down to give ourselves a break, notice the small beauty's of your day and come back to the things we do for ourselves. For me this means letting myself decompress from a semester full of classes, spending time with family who I don't get to see as much as I should, and reading a freakin' book for the first time in Lord knows how long. The adjustment of focus this month has been a challenge, and I find myself wishing that I could be back in the hustle and bustle of the school year. At the same time, I am determined to allow the rest of this month and into June be a time for me to grow better at accepting and embracing where I am at. What's May looking like for you?

P.S. Here's a few of my favorite songs that have been the best for relaxing (and not to mention driving with the windows down)

Sleep On the Floor - The Lumineers

Hang Loose - Alabama Shakes

Mama- The Glorious Sons

In the Blood - John Mayer

Mess is Mine - Vance Joy

Be Mine - Alabama Shakes

Roll it on Home - John Mayer

Angela - The Lumineers

Slow it Down - The Lumineers

From Eden - Hozier

P.P.S. I didn't take any of these wonderful pictures, but you can find out who did (and look at some other pretty cool stuff) on my pinterest :)
