Photo Diary: Amalfi Coast

Our weekend on the Amalfi Coast was split between Capri, Positano and a day spent touring Pompeii and (attempting) to climb Mt. Vesuvius. Capri was filled with beautiful views that we were able to see from a boat tour we did around the island which included passing the white, blue and green grottos there. Positano was our relaxing middle day and my favorite of the three parts of Amalfi we saw. In my opinion Positano was the least congested, touristy of the three cities. The last day we spent at Vesuvius and Pompeii, and although we were definitely not in the right clothes to climb the mountain, it was still and unforgettable experience.

Three cities in one weekend can be over. whelming., especially when you're also worried about the fact that everything you have with you is sandy, and that you can't find an ATM and NOWHERE takes debit cards. Here's a couple tips I learned along the way of the three cities:

Capri:

- Eat at the restaurant to the left of the entrance of the train station. Order the freshest calamari you'll ever eat there and flirt back with the waiters. It will result in free (STRONG) limoncello

Positano:

- Pay for the 17 euro beach chair. Pebble beaches are not comfy, and you'll separate yourself from the crowded public beach, which trust me, is worth it in itself.

Pompeii:

- take the guided tour of Pompeii. Although simply seeing the ancient city is breathtaking, there is so much interesting history to learn about Pompeii that you would never know if you didn't have the guide.
