Photo Diary: Cinque Terre
This past weekend my roommates and I took a day trip to Cinque Terre, a beach town in Italy. Cinque Terre is a town comprised of 5 villages, famous for pesto and cliff sides stacked with colorful pastel buildings. We started our day in the village of Monarola where nearly all of these photos were taken. As soon as we stepped off the train in Monarola, we truly had stepped into a postcard. Cinque Terre as a whole is a pretty tourist-y town, but at the same time was full of little corners void of t-shirt vendors and over-priced cafe's. I mean come on, it's pretty hard not to forget about the screen printed Gildan tees, and fall in love with a place when you find an alley tucked behind a massive cactus like the middle photo above.
We left Monarola and took the train to the beach in Monterosso al Mare where we spent the day relaxing. Aside from waves that will literally knock you off your feet, there is nothing to not love about this beachy little slice of Italy. Monterosso had the same cute pastel buildings and quaintness of the first village. Margarita pizza on the beach in Italy is far from my normal weekends at school in Kent, but hey a little change is always good right?
